Show Me

I have pleaded my willingness
many times before, so it seems dubious
to hear myself say no — now I’m serious,
as if at all those other times I wasn’t

Still I’m asking once again —
I really need to understand
the Valley of Bones,
“it shall be well”

I’ve said the words but thought the facts were final —
that what has died is fully dead and gone,
but here I am, daughter of man,
and I say “Lord, thou knowest” —
show me where to look to see Your truth.

Acquittal

This is not incremental change,
not resolutions, not a trajectory,
not a thing to chart and measure progress
and feel good today, or else feel bad

This is the dropping of everything —
unholy mess, colosal clatter —
this is the shock of light occasioning
complete disjunction from what went before

This is the calm beyond the conflagration
where you find out it never really mattered,
this is the waking up after your dream
where morning’s truth provides your sure defense.

Free Fall

Any of these floors
can drop away —
no one is more solid
than any others.

The graceful thing appears to be to fall
rather than casting about
for a better place to stand

In fact this knowing
of where I may fall through
may be a blessing —
sometimes the free fall
is the best way to remember
the depth of being.

Eternity

This is how it is
living every day in the sunlight of Truth —
today as eternity,
no track record required,
just this one day as a thousand years,
just a thousand years
as one day

This is how you know
in this now
that what you are
has always been,
even as it must be —
your shine proves eternity,
your essence proves truth.

Hush

This concentration of power
allows no excuses.
There is no weak spot in the field
where the potency could leak out,
could run away

There is no voice against it,
no answer to it.

We are hushed, aware
that nothing makes sense,
nothing gets a hearing
outside of this truth,
in the face of which
we lay our weapons
and our burdens down.

New Vision

It’s not an ace in the hole,
it’s  not a way to win in this world,
it can’t be used to gain advantage

When you emerge into the radiance
of the great and tender Allness,
you forget those things anyway,
being so caught up
in the unfolding singularity
of each joy-touched moment,
each amazing new awareness

You won’t be able to look back and measure,
but you won’t care, either,
leaving the false for the true.

In the Allness

In the pearly deep blue Allness
you can’t fall. Or rather,
none of your fallings matter —
it catches you, cradles you,
sees you clean, rekindles your light,
sets in order everything that slipped

In the starry endless Allness
you can’t fail. Or rather,
none of your failings matter.
The Love that loves you
never is impressed
by any of those sorry frames.
The Love that loves you
always sees you clear.

One Truth

Who can predict the consequence
of one truth restored, one thing
that had been unknown, now
deeply understood?

It may be a keystone, rebuilding the arch,
allowing the bridge to go across,
it may be the line that closes the circuit,
lighting up the house,
it may be a birthright, rendering royal
whole peoples, all along the course of history.

One truth may be all we need.
