Sight

I give my eyes to Truth.
Truth, train my eyes,
in this and every moment —
let me see straight

Catch me before my eyes
connect the dots in some distorted way,
before they draw conclusions
from some vapid, hapless picture —
help me behold unfolding acts of grace
and hidden harmony,
let them spring up before me,
showing me the universe of good

And if I haven’t seen them yet,
let me hold on, unfazed,
let me hold out for Truth’s appearing
in its own timeless rhythm
throughout my days.

Safe

Don’t panic. Don’t sink
from seeing the wind boisterous —
these are just screens before your eyes,
each one of them illusory
as the next

You can walk over these waves —
you don’t have to think
you need to change something
so you’ll be safe

Your security
is in the laws of your being,
the way you’re held beloved
in the Truth that holds everything,
every atom, every star,
in its perfect circle,
in its present grace.

The Facts of Soul

When I came back today
it was still there, where I saw it
yesterday — the house
in its perfection, all the laws of it
standing, in their interlock,
in their prismatic color,
in the certainty of completion,
every vector blessing

I was glad to see it —
interested that I hadn’t known before
that it was here all the time,
delighted to consider
what it will offer us
and what we will give it
in these Soul ordered days.

Day of Clarity

This is the day of clarity.
This day, in which the words are written,
this one, in which they are read

The vision is not prolonged.
All that I see must come to pass,
or rather, it has come to pass already

There is no waiting
for mortal mind to get it right.
I wait on Truth — which means
make no conclusions
until they coincide
with universal harmony

I’ll wait, even as I see
things falling down, even as
the voices scream that Truth has failed

Truth cannot fail.
It is its nature to be true.
And in this day of clarity
we’ll see it through.

The True Thing

The true thing
present in this green and golden
afternoon, with events suspended
while time ripens
and firs sing wind songs
while little birds converse

The true thing,
older than all the human stories,
newer than anything we’ve thought before,
is Life’s unfurling of itself
in multiple dimensions,
in ever awe-inducing harmony
for all of us to be.

Angel

I sat still
so I could
consider the angel —
that rift of my daily perception,
that tearing away
of the predetermined
course of things
(the slowly wilting fading picture
with all its hopes diminishing,
its outcome possibly horrific
or ultimately, in the best case,
sad)

The angel was like
a ripping of that scene in two,
revealing, where the picture was,
a vast expanse,
a light above the sun

I had to stop,
for everything is different,
have to watch
to see how I’ll be led.

Taking a Stand

When I take a stand for kindness,
a straight and square stand,
no wobbly plea

When I take a stand for fair dealing —
no drama, only honesty

When I take a stand for goodness —
not tomorrow, or at some
vaguely gestured at
contingency,

These things will win,
for they are solid —
not found in the elusive
posturing of quid pro quo,
but simply what they are,
ever here, frame and bulwark
of our home.

All Things New

Not even time is exempt
from the rushing wind of Spirit,
not even the past can harbor wrongs
that don’t get swept away

All things are clean —
no atonement is demanded,
no punishment required
before you enter
the liberating kingdom
of the law of Life

Right now is when you’re governed
by that which has no adversary,
that which holds as sole demand for you
that you be subject
exclusively to Truth.

Walking in Truth

Feet step out in wonder —
Try to describe this,
soaring down the tailwinds,
bright spirited day after the squall

Flowers bloomed where she walked —
that was one way to say it,
joy meeting joy

not something precious or singular,
just the natural way of moving
and its expected effects

Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me
(I shall have a legacy of blessing)
all the days of my life

that’s a way to say it, too,
in the house of presence
where each breath
brings forth fruit.

Take a breath

A sudden light revealing snakes —
twisted, tangled, convoluting —
all the things I’ve thought
about these others here
while never casting light within myself

How could I, then, have thought myself
a better model? How blind to think
that I could hold judgmental thoughts
without the mud and soot of false opinions
smearing all my windows from within!

Well, take a breath. It’s always
a good idea. And let the sunlight
reveal what has been cleansed
and what’s still needed. Let tenderness
towards both yourself and others
wash everything and show you what is true.
