Love speaks like this

Wait just a moment
And you can feel the love flow in
Like water on the tidal shore
seeps through the sand
melting the footprints

Let the impressions all grow wide and bright
and shimmery
While the answering rush of warmth
wells up in you
This, too, will shine —
Flash out its signal
Far across the water
to the other side.

For Heather at finals time

For you to be
exactly what you are
doesn’t take a miracle

That what you are
is astoundingly perfect
in each creation, every interaction
should be no surprise

That “perfect” be defined
by the eternal laws of Life,
of seamless symbiosis, joyful thriving,
pure delight,
Makes perfect sense,
for the great source
from which we all have come
Gives us our impulse, our guidance
and our home.

Centering

I will go to this deep place
I will go to this place
that’s deeper than the floor,
Deeper than all the floating levels
that shift and sift and change perspective

I will go to where I feel
the elemental hook
that anchors me,
sends a surge of solidness
up through my core and out beyond
and binds me to the stars

I will bring my vision of you
to this deep place,
I will see you centered,
and anchored,
and soaring,
where no false floors
can trap you or distract you,
And so I’ll see you home.

“In my Father’s house”

In this house
There’s room enough for everyone.
There’s room for those
who need to go slow,
whose moves are ponderous
and often hesitating,
Who may seem to forget sometimes
where they are going.

There’s room for those
who only lightly touch down
in the quick flitting of skittering motion,
Hardly here for long enough
to cast a shadow,
But wanting to have weight
and be remembered.

There’s room for those who need to lead
And those who wish to follow,
Room to blaze in brilliance,
Room to wait in silence.
Room for both those born within
And those who came from far,
Room for all to grow
and so step in to what they are.

Essences

I start to sense —
with some surprise —
the essences of which I am comprised,
And they feel more like
softly potent nebulae
than any former figure of myself

They gather forces, lift,
roll in,
like clouds, like seas —
They shape-shift as they fly,
They gravitate like spheres,
Encounter others,
Slide into their places,
Harmonizing vectors

Who am I now?
— Something far beyond
the stories, placing me
in static scripts and roles,
Something I may learn
as I unfold.

Ontology

Actually,
There was never any question
of whether you would be loved,
Of whether everything you touch —
the air, the land, the sea, the living —
would move in joy to meet your presence
in every moment

There never was a question
whether you would bless each moment
by simply being,
For you were not created
separate from your essence
And you can’t exist
separate from your love.

Exploring Yes

I wanted this:
I wanted to be overcome,
Wanted the unknown mysterious tide
to rush through me, lifting away
everything I thought I was.
I wanted this internal suspension
Where my molecules,
With sudden phosphorescence,
Flow in a toroidal circulation,
Waking me all up inside.

I wanted this astonished state
of being rendered formless —
My caterpillar body melting
in its chrysalis —
Feeling in an ongoing surprise
The newness taking shape within.

When we are done, I’ll soar —
Of this I’m sure
though I can’t fathom how,
or what I’ll be
For I am drawn to this
with all my essence —
This yes to you is yes, still more,
to me.

Prayer at the End of Days

Spirit, be a rock under my feet,
For these sands are flowing hard against me.
Hold me with your steady hand,
Unite me with your center,
Give me strength to stand
Against the seething flood of matter.
Be so clear
That all these tidal flows
Will fail to grab me in their undertow.
Let them only serve to bring illusion down
That I may stand in freedom
Knowing Truth alone.
Hold us all, that as the turbid turbulence subsides,
We all will stand together
Seeing new, clear-eyed.

Today

I will fly up quickly,
pressing my open parts forward
for maximum contact
against my source,
against the light that calls me,
that owns me,
that I know is mine

I will take in,
until the point of saturation,
all that bright liquid joy,
until it drips,
streams from me,
and I’m held at the quick
of the wick of non-consuming flame
that quenches every thirst

I will raise my arms
and turn outward
to see how we all have risen —
Liquid stars that call each other
bracingly
across the intimacy
of boundless space.

Reliance

Spirit fills me in
Fills me up
Defines my line
Like cords of coursing water
hold their form,
rope-like in the flow
of falling river.

Spirit fills out the net
of my connections
Holds the weight of me and everyone
So we can twine together
Perfect and symmetric
No heaviness to drag us out of shape.

No need to tend the strands, the knots
To see if they are safe and strong,
for Spirit holds us all along
and never lets us fall.
